Teledyne ISCO selected as primary automatic wastewater sampler supplier for WEF/CDC free program for small utilities
Upwards
of 150 Teledyne ISCO automatic samplers to be provided to qualified small
utilities in communities nationwide
LINCOLN,
Neb.—March 1, 2022—Teledyne
ISCO, under a cooperative agreement between the Water Environment Federation
(WEF) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has been
selected as the primary supplier of automatic samplers for small utilities.
“Teledyne
ISCO is thrilled to be able to participate with WEF, the CDC and the selected
small utilities to spread the benefits of wastewater surveillance across
communities to reach a wider range of the population,” said Kaushal Trivedi,
Teledyne ISCO Water Platform Business Development Manager. “Our innovative
products are designed to increase productivity while improving the quality of
life around the world, and this partnership promotes those goals significantly."
In
addition to providing automatic samplers, Teledyne ISCO will provide training
and troubleshooting services to each recipient small utility. Details on
Teledyne ISCO’s samplers and Teledyne ISCO are at www.teledyneisco.com/en-us/water-and-wastewater.
According to WEF’s Invitation to Small Communities to Participate in
Automatic Sampler Supply, Training, and Troubleshooting Program, at
least 225 utilities will be supplied with an autosampler and training.
“Participation in wastewater surveillance to date has skewed toward larger,
well-resourced utilities,” the invitation states. “These resources include but
are not limited to continuous in-situ monitors and automatic samplers. WEF and
the CDC would like to expand the program to a wider array of wastewater
treatment plants serving diverse populations.
“Automatic
samplers . . .facilitate collection of representative wastewater samples
for disease surveillance, but also can enable improved understanding of
organic, solids, and nutrient loadings to wastewater treatment facilities. By
providing new, automatic samplers at no cost to at least 225 small utilites, this
project aims to increase participation in wastewater surveillance by smaller,
rural, and tribal communities and, therefore, expand access to this effective
public health surveillance tool."
